Eligibility Criteria for Artificial Intelligence for Canadian Energy Innovation Call for Proposals 2026

1. Applicants must be Canadian legal entities, including:

Project Requirements

1. Must develop and apply an AI solution to advance the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of a pre-commercial energy solution (starting around TRL 2–6).
2. Demonstrate the AI solution’s cost/time/energy efficiency over conventional methods.
3. Have access to or plan to generate productive datasets.
4. Academic institutions
5. Government departments (provincial, territorial, municipal)
6. Indigenous communities, councils, and organizations

Application Date and Process

1. Two-phase selection:
2. Expression of Interest (EOI): Open to all eligible applicants.
3. Full Project Proposal (FPP): By invitation only, following EOI review.
4. Submission: EOI must be submitted via the application portal by the deadline.
