Eligibility Criteria for Citizens of the World Scholarship – Engagement Component 2026

  1. At the time of application, a new application for admission to a regular 2nd or 3rd cycle (Master's or Doctorate) program at Université Laval for the Winter , Summer or Fall semester of 2026 must have been submitted . To access the form, the application for admission must have been processed and the admission fees must have been paid.
  2. To be involved in an exceptional way in one or more areas of activity.
  3. Maintain full-time student status at Université Laval throughout the program of study for which the scholarship was awarded (fall and winter sessions);
  4. Hold a valid study permit:
  5. You must be studying in Canada and have a valid study permit at the time you receive the scholarship payments.
  6. If you need to make an initial application for temporary immigration documents for studies, follow-up with a Regulated Immigration Consultant (RIEC) is required. You will need to demonstrate that the process is being completed in a timely manner.
  7. Selection criteria

    1. Commitment and involvement: volunteer activities, time given to an organization/project / association, recent, long-term, and/or recurring commitment, altruism, enthusiasm, potential to continue the commitment, etc.
    2. Leadership: leadership qualities, initiative, perseverance, research potential (scientific aspect), motivation within his group, sense of responsibility and commitment, inspiring role model for his peers, etc.
    3. Dimension of global citizenship
    4. Academic performance & Quality of presentation of the portfolio

    Eligibility for RENEWAL:

    1. These scholarships are renewable annually for the official duration of the initial program of study, provided the conditions below are met. Recipients will receive an email in the winter of each eligible year containing a link to the online renewal form, which they must complete and submit before the indicated deadline. Contact information for a designated contact person will be required for information verification purposes, but this person will not be required to complete a form.
    2. To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients must:
    3. Provide proof of continued commitment (in the renewal form);
    4. Maintain full-time student status at Université Laval in the program of study (or in the same cycle of study) for which the scholarship was awarded (fall and winter sessions);
    5. Maintain a minimum program average of 2.67 out of 4.33;
    6. Commit to participating in recognition activities related to the program (ceremony, testimonial, thank you letter, etc.).

Benefits of Citizens of the World Scholarship – Engagement Component 2026

  1. Several scholarships of $20,000 (Master's level: Payment of $5,000 per session, up to a maximum of four sessions).
  2. Several scholarships of $30,000 (3rd cycle: Payment of $5,000 per session, up to a maximum of six sessions).
