The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites applications for its 2025 Internship Programme at its Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The internship offers young professionals the opportunity to contribute to global food security, agriculture, sustainability and development initiatives.

Interns will be assigned to departments relevant to their academic background and may support areas such as climate action, data analysis, communications, policy development, field operations or research.

This internship is part of FAO’s commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and youth engagement within the UN system.

Eligibility Criteria for FAO Internship Programme 2025 (Headquarters – Rome)

  1. Age 21–30
  2. Enrolled in or recent graduate of a recognized undergraduate/graduate programme
  3. Specialization in a field relevant to FAO’s mission (e.g., Agriculture, Economics, Environment, Data, Communications, International Relations, etc.)
  4. Fluency in at least one FAO language (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian); knowledge of a second is an asset
  5. Nationals of FAO Member States
  6. Able to work in a multicultural international environment
  7. Not previously interned at FAO
  8. No immediate family members working at FAO
