Leiden University Children’s Rights 2026 Scholarship

The Children’s Rights Scholarship 1 is designed for students pursuing the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights at Leiden University. The scholarship supports students from developing countries who demonstrate strong motivation and financial need.

Eligibility Criteria for Leiden University Children’s Rights 2026 Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  1. be a national of a country with a medium (113-151) or low (152-189) ranking on the HDI Index - see the UNDP website.
  2. lack the financial means to follow the study programme without the assistance of a scholarship.
  3. be highly motivated to follow the Master of Laws Advanced Studies programme in International Children’s Rights.

Note: Applicants from single-parent families and families depending on social assistance schemes are given priority.


Benefits of Leiden University Children’s Rights 2026 Scholarship

  1. There are two scholarships available, each of €17,900. The scholarship takes the form of a contribution towards the tuition fee (the total tuition fee is € 22,300). The duration of the scholarship is one year.

How to Apply

  1. Submit an online application for admission to the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights and pay the application fee of € 100. Don't forget to upload a valid English test result in your application.
  2. In your online application (uSis), click on the scholarship tab and take the following steps:
  3. Indicate that you want to apply for the Children’s Rights Scholarship 1.
  4. Upload a letter of motivation for the Children’s Rights Scholarship 1 that meets all the following criteria:
  5. It clearly states your student number (from uSis) and that the letter concerns your motivation for the Children’s Rights Scholarship 1.
  6. It describes your financial situation and why you are unable to follow the programme without a scholarship;
  7. It states your reasons for wishing to follow the study programme.
  8. Click on 'submit'.
  9. Note that your scholarship application will only be processed after you have submitted your application for admission and your scholarship application via Leiden University’s online application portal (uSis), and have paid the application fee.
