Newberry Long-Term Fellowship for Scholarly Research 2026-27

The Newberry Long-Term Fellowship supports individual scholarly research and promotes intellectual exchange through active participation in the Newberry’s programs, including Fellows’ Seminars and Weekly Colloquia.

Fellowships are residential, lasting 4–9 months, and include a $5,000 monthly stipend. Awardees may combine the fellowship with sabbatical funding or other stipendiary support.

Applicants must hold a PhD or terminal degree by the application deadline (21 November 2025).

Eligibility Criteria for Newberry Long-Term Fellowship for Scholarly Research 2026-27

  1. Must hold a PhD or terminal degree by 21 November 2025
  2. Conduct original scholarly research
  3. Able to participate in Newberry’s academic programs
  4. May not hold fellowships concurrently that exceed $10,000 per month
  5. Optional: Apply for HAB add-on or NCAIS fellowship if relevant

  6. References (up to 3)
