The Makerere University Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (Mak-CAID) is a multidisciplinary research and innovation hub established to drive the development and application of AI and data science solutions to address real-world challenges in Uganda and across Africa. Housed at Makerere University and supported by AIR.ug, Mak-CAID focuses on cutting-edge research, skills development, policy engagement, and fostering collaborations between academia, industry, and government. The center aims to build a robust ecosystem for responsible AI development and to empower the next generation of African data scientists and AI professionals.
