UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples 2026 Participation Grant

The United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples (UNVFII) invites applications from Indigenous individuals and representatives of Indigenous organizations seeking financial support to participate in:

  1. 25th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)20 April to 1 May 2026, New York, USA
  2. 19th Session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP)13 to 17 July 2026, Geneva, Switzerland

The Fund covers travel, accommodation, and related expenses for selected participants who demonstrate active engagement in advancing Indigenous rights.

Eligibility Criteria for UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples 2026 Participation Grant

Indigenous individuals and representatives of Indigenous organizations who:

  1. Are actively engaged in promoting and protecting Indigenous rights.
  2. Can demonstrate how their participation will contribute to advocacy efforts for their communities.
  3. Require financial support to cover travel, accommodation, and related expenses.

Applications will be assessed based on:

  1. Representation: Priority will be given to Indigenous representatives with a clear mandate from their communities.
  2. Relevance: Demonstrated involvement in human rights issues affecting Indigenous Peoples.
  3. Impact: Potential for the applicant’s participation to strengthen advocacy and policy influence.
  4. Need: Financial need and lack of alternative funding sources.

Applications from LGBTIQ+ and Persons with Disabilities are particularly encouraged!

  3. A letter of nomination or recommendation by the executive of your indigenous organization or community
