University of Stuttgart 2025 Software Engineering PhD Scholarships (Fully Funded to Germany)

The Software Lab, located at the University of Stuttgart and affiliated with CISPA, is seeking PhD students interested in conducting research at the intersection of software engineering, programming languages, artificial intelligence, and security. The lab focuses on developing tools and techniques for constructing reliable, efficient, and secure software, applying research to real-world systems like Scipy, Chrome, and popular web platforms. Students will work in an ambitious, international research group and contribute to innovative projects aimed at practical software challenges. The lab operates in English and values quality over quantity in both group size and research output.

Computer science or related fields, particularly those focused on:

Please consider applying if you:

1. Have obtained or will soon obtain a master’s degree in computer science or a related subject
2. Want to pursue academic research at the highest level and obtain a PhD degree within four to five years
3. Are creative and able to come up with fresh ideas to address technical challenges
4. Like to write code and will not be afraid of a large software project
5. Like to read and write technical texts in English
6. Enjoy working with undergraduate students
7. Are persistent and willing to work several years of your life on a project that many people will never understand
8. Like to present your work to academic audiences, e.g., at international conferences, and to non-academic audiences (to increase the number of people that understand your work)
