2025 James McCune Smith Undergraduate Scholarship at University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow has up to 30 undergraduate scholarships available for students of African/African-Caribbean backgrounds. The scholarship supports students who could face financial difficulties taking up their place to study at the university. The value of the scholarship is £2,000, paid in instalments for year one of undergraduate study. The scholarship is open to new applicants to the university for 2025 entry. Current students who have previously been in receipt of the award may reapply, however, preference will be given to applicants entering their first year of study

Eligibility Criteria for 2025 James McCune Smith Undergraduate Scholarship at University of Glasgow

  1. Be classed as ‘Home’ or ‘RUK’ for fee purposes
  2. Have firmly accepted an offer of a place to study a full-time undergraduate programme, at the University of Glasgow in the forthcoming academic year (September 2025)
  3. Identify as being of Black African/African-Caribbean heritage
  4. Provide evidence that your, or your family's, circumstances are such that you may find it difficult to take up a place at the University for financial or other reasons.
  5. Be undertaking your first undergraduate degree

If you have not yet received an offer for a programme from the University of Glasgow, please wait until your offer is confirmed before applying. Submitting a scholarship application without a programme offer will render your application invalid.

The application deadline is 11:00 pm on 30th of June 2025. No applications will be accepted after this date.
