$50,000 Up for Grabs! GoGettaz Agripreneur Competition 2025 Opens for Young Africans—Apply!

The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition 2025 offers a platform for young agripreneurs in Africa who are creating innovative and scalable solutions in the agrifood sector. With a focus on addressing challenges like food security, nutrition, and climate resilience, the competition provides two grand prizes of $50,000 each and additional impact awards totaling $60,000. Finalists will also receive the opportunity to pitch their ventures at the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit in Dakar, Senegal, and benefit from mentorship, investment networks, and personalized leadership support through the GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program.

Eligibility Criteria for $50,000 Up for Grabs! GoGettaz Agripreneur Competition 2025 Opens for Young Africans—Apply!

The eligibility criteria include

  1. Entrepreneurs aged 35 or below on the date of submission.
  2. Entrepreneurs must be legally recognized as adults in their country of nationality.
  3. Entrepreneurs must be the founders or co-founders of the venture they represent and play an active role in its operations and leadership.
  4. The entrepreneur must have no criminal record related to corruption, tax evasion, financial impropriety, or other offenses.
  5. The venture must be legally registered in an African Union member country or in the process of registration by June 10, 2025.
  6. The venture must be financially sustainable and operate in the agrifood sector or support agrifood development through innovation or process improvement.

The competition is open to ventures in the agrifood sector, which may include:

  1. Agrifood research and development
  2. Primary food production (farming)
  3. Crop nutrition
  4. Irrigation
  5. Mechanization, automation, or robotics (including drones)
  6. Crop protection
  7. Hydroponics or urban farming
  8. Transport, distribution, storage, or logistics
  9. Food processing, packaging, or marketing
  10. Food retail or service
  11. Waste management or recycling
  12. Digital or technology solutions/services for agrifood
  13. Innovative finance solutions/services for agrifood
  14. Renewable energy or environmental solutions/services for agrifood
  15. Food system innovations (e.g., soldier fly larvae

How are Applicants Selected?

  1. An expert jury will review all applications as they are submitted from 3 April to 10 June 2025.
  2. Evaluations consider the following criteria:
  3. Innovation
  4. Market potential and traction
  5. Inspiring and Investable Team
  6. Business model
  7. Impact
  8. The Top 24 semi-finalists will be notified via WhatsApp and email in mid-July.
  9. Semi-finalists will each be interviewed and asked for further information.
  10. 12 finalists will be selected by the jury at the end of July 2025. Six male and six female finalists will be notified via WhatsApp and email.
  11. Finalists will be invited to compete on stage at the AFSF Summit in Dakar, Senegal, in September 2025.
  12. All 12 finalists will be awarded mentorship, programming linkages, and other guidance to continue their entrepreneurial journey.

The competition benefits include:

  1. $50,000 cash prize for each winner.
  2. Additional $60,000 impact awards.
  3. Flight, accommodation, and visa costs covered to pitch at the GoGettaz Finals in Senegal.
  4. Participation in the Agribusiness Deal Room at the AFSF Summit.
  5. The opportunity to apply for the GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program, offering mentorship, peer-to-peer sessions, and workshops.

The award will be presented at the GoGettaz Finals, held during the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit in Dakar, Senegal, in September 2025.
