The Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) is proud to launch the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0, 2025. This funding opportunity offers $8 million in investment to support Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) charitable and non-profit organizations across Canada. Our goal is to provide one-year flexible funding to initiatives designed to address the most pressing needs of Black communities and improve socio-economic outcomes.

What is Black Ideas Grant 3.0?

The Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 is an initiative aimed at empowering B3 organizations to develop and lead projects where they address one of the three focus areas:

  1. Combatting Anti-Black Racism
  2. Improving Social Outcomes
  3. Improving Economic Outcomes

Eligibility Criteria for Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) by FFBC (V 3.0) 2025

To be eligible for funding, your initiative must:

  1. Be led by a Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) organization.
  2. Address at least one of the focus areas and align with the Sustainable Development Goals and Social Determinants of Health.
  3. Be based in Canada and completed by March 31, 2027.

Note: Unincorporated organizations or groups may apply in partnership with an incorporated B3 organization.

Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed by a panel of Black community members, known as the Community Selection Circles (CSC). Successful applicants will be notified by March 2026.


Benefits of Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) by FFBC (V 3.0) 2025

They invite eligible B3 organizations at various stages of development to apply for one of three funding streams:

  1. Core Stream: Up to $30,000 to support core and operational needs unrelated to programming.
  2. Catapult Stream: Up to $80,000 to invest in new or to expand existing programs and services.
  3. Community Spaces Stream: Up to $200,000 for capital projects and social infrastructure.
