The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Cooperation in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries. Granting scholarships to citizens from developing countries for studies at Czech public higher education institutions (referred to as “universities”) is an important part of the foreign development cooperation of the Czech Republic.

Eligibility Criteria for Czech Government Scholarship 2026

To apply for the Czech Republic Government Scholarship 2026, please note the following:

1. The scholarship is open to the citizens of the following countries: Nigeria, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Zambia.
2. Citizens of all other countries are not eligible to apply.
3. EU Citizens as well as Citizens of the Czech Republic can not apply.
4. Students applying for the Master’s program must have obtained a bachelor’s Degree.
5. Students applying for the PhD program must have obtained a bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s degree.

Benefits of Czech Government Scholarship 2026

The scholarship is intended to cover the necessary costs related to staying and studying in the Czech Republic.

1. Currently, it amounts to CZK 16,000 per month for students of Bachelor's and follow-up Master’s study programme and CZK 17,000 for students of a Doctoral study programme.
2. Costs of accommodation, food and public transport are covered by scholarship holders from the scholarship
3. Travel expenses for travelling to the Czech Republic and back to the student’s home country after graduation are paid by the foreign national at his/her own cost or by the party that nominated the student to study in the Czech Republic.

How to Apply

Each applicant is obliged to fill in an electronic application form by 30 September 2025 at the latest. The successful applicant starts studying in the academic year 2026/2027.

By completing the application form, the applicant is successfully registered. The application is considered complete only after completing the general knowledge test and, if applicable, the English language test.
