Eligibility Criteria for Dalhousie University Teaching and Learning in Computing Education Grant 2025

This grant award is open to individuals or teams who are interested in learning more and getting actively involved in computing education. This includes, but is not limited to, faculty members (teaching and/or research stream), researchers, instructional designers, and education technology specialists. Applicants must be affiliated with the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Stephanie Bernier (sbernier@dal.ca) to coordinate with the CSEd team throughout the completion of the project as well as Eric Poitras (eric.poitras@dal.ca) for assistance in applying for ethics research board approval.

Selection Process

The selection criteria will include the potential impact of the proposed project, the feasibility of the proposed research, and the applicant's qualifications and experience in computing education. All interested applicants are welcome to explain how they addressed the feedback from committee members during the resubmission of a proposal.

The grant recipient(s) will be announced by Monday, October 6, 2025. Applicants will be required to submit a brief report summarizing their experience and how it contributed to their academic and research goals. The funds must be spent over a period of 18 months upon receipt of acceptance of the award.

How to Apply

To apply for this grant award, interested applicants must submit a proposal of no more than 2,500 words that includes the following:

  1. A clear research question and objectives
  2. A brief literature review related to the proposed research
  3. Methodology and data collection techniques
  4. A timeline for the proposed project
  5. A detailed budget outlining how the grant funds will be used
  6. A brief explanation of how the proposed project will contribute to the field of computing education and teaching practices
  7. A budget that outlines how the grant funds will be used, including any additional funding or in-kind support.
  8. A brief biography of the applicant(s), highlighting their qualifications and experience in computing education.
