Erasmus Mundus Interdisciplinary Mathematics Scholarship 2026

Interdisciplinary Mathematics” is a 2-Year full-time Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Mathematical Modelling and Simulation with interdisciplinary applications, with a special focus on biomedical Sciences and industrial engineering. It is run by five European Universities:

  1. University of L’Aquila (UAQ) - Coordinating Institution
  2. Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH)
  3. Vienna University of Technology (TUW)
  4. Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB)
  5. University of Côte d'Azur in Nice (UniCA)

“InterMaths” prepares for a career in research as well as in private enterprises, in particular in industrial engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceutics, and biomedical industry. Our study-plans develop mathematical skills that are relevant to a broad range of interdisciplinary fields:

Eligibility Criteria for Erasmus Mundus Interdisciplinary Mathematics Scholarship 2026

  1. The application is open to students of any nationality. However, before deciding on your eligibility, we need to look through all the required documents. Therefore, if you want to be taken into consideration for our next intake, first check if you meet the minimum academic requirements, then fill in our online application form to submit all the required documents. Your application will then be evaluated along with all the others received, and a selection list will be published on this page - see below for details.
  2. Academic Requirements
  3. Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or other similar fields with a very strong mathematical background (BS, BSc, SB, etc. or a degree at the same level of an academic Bachelor's Degree, e.g. its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing, or 180 ECTS credits in the European system)
  4. Language requirements
  5. All applicants are required to prove an adequate level of English (CEFR B2 level, at least).
  6. Applicants who have conducted their university or secondary-school studies in an English-speaking institution for one or more years will only have to verify that English is the medium of instruction in such institutions (to this purpose, you will find a dedicated section in the application form - no certificate submission is required).

    12. For all the above documents, in case they are not written in English, please upload an official English translation, or a translation provided and signed by the Institution awarding your previous degree.

Benefits of Erasmus Mundus Interdisciplinary Mathematics Scholarship 2026

  1. EMJM scholarships are offered to the most talented candidates of any nationality who will be full-time enrolled in the InterMaths EMJM programme.
  2. Students who are awarded an EMJM scholarship won't have to pay any participation costs.
  3. Tuition, registration and any other mandatory costs related to their participation in the course are fully waived. However, the student has to cover accommodation, living, travelling, equipment, and any other personal expenses.
  4. Students will also receive full insurance coverage (see here for more information).
  5. Those who have already benefited from an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional scholarship. However, they can apply for InterMaths as non-scholarship holders.
  6. Special needs
  7. Contribution for special needs, such as long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments certified by a competent authority, may be awarded during the duration of the programme. Therefore, candidates are invited to specify any disability in the application form.

How to Apply

  1. STEP 1 - Register at https://pica.cineca.it/en/register to get your username and password.
  2. STEP 2 - Fill in your application
  3. Go to https://pica.cineca.it/univaq/2026-network-intermaths/ and log in using the username and password previously created. Then fill in your application form and upload the required documents.
  4. STEP 3 - Review your data
  5. When you're 100% sure you've completed your application, review your data by clicking on the Verify button.
  6. STEP 4 - Sign and Submit
  7. Click on the Sign and submit button to get a receipt of your submitted data. Note, you won't be enabled to make any more changes at this stage! Once signed, you'll have to upload the signed document back via the online tool to finally SUBMIT your application to us.
  8. STEP 5 - Get 2 reference letters
  9. Appoint 2 referees and send them an invitation link from our application tool: Reference system.
  10. STEP 6 - What happens next
  11. Selection is a comparative one. So, we need to wait until the deadline has passed to start the selection process of all the submitted applications. Within around a month you'll find the selection list on this page
  12. Applications will only be considered for scholarships if they are submitted by 1 pm Italy time, 25 February 2026, complete with all required documents - reference letters might be submitted even later on, instead, as explained above.

    So, make sure you complete the Sign and Submit process before such deadlines. Your application won't be taken into account unless you generate a PDF receipt, sign it and upload it back using the "Sign and Submit" function. There are 3 signing options, we suggest you use the third one in the list (handwritten signature).
