Harvard Kennedy School Arctic Initiative Fellowship 2026–2027

The Arctic Initiative Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center invites predoctoral candidates, recent PhD recipients, visiting scholars, and early-career professionals to pursue research addressing the rapidly changing Arctic. Fellows will collaborate with Harvard faculty, policymakers, and experts to develop policy-relevant insights on sustainable ocean management, climate change and permafrost thaw, resilience in the Far North, and emerging Arctic issues.

Eligibility Criteria for Harvard Kennedy School Arctic Initiative Fellowship 2026–2027

  1. Open to predoctoral, postdoctoral, and early-career researchers.
  2. Applicants should demonstrate relevant academic or professional experience in Arctic or climate-related work.
  3. Arctic residents and Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  4. Must submit CV, transcript (for predoctoral), research statement, writing sample, and 3 letters of recommendation.

Benefits of Harvard Kennedy School Arctic Initiative Fellowship 2026–2027

Funded fellowships include a stipend, office space, and limited travel funding for conferences and workshops. Unfunded or partially funded positions are also available for qualified candidates.

How to Apply

Applications open October 1 and close December 1, 2025. Interested candidates should apply via the Belfer Center website and submit all required materials, including references by December 15, 2025. Selected fellows will hold in-residence appointments at Harvard Kennedy School for the 2026–2027 academic year.
