The Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund is a scholarship programme for talented students from developing countries who wish to follow the Master of Laws Advanced Studies programme in International Children’s Rights and meet all criteria for admission.

Eligibility Criteria for Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund at Leiden University 2026

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  1. be a national of a country with a medium (113-151) or low (152-189) ranking on the HDI Index - see the UNDP website.
  2. lack the financial means to follow the study programme without the assistance of a scholarship.
  3. be highly motivated to follow the Master of Laws Advanced Studies programme in International Children’s Rights.

How to Apply

  1. Submit an online application for admission to the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights and pay the application fee of € 100. Don't forget to upload a valid English test result to your application.
  2. In your online application (uSis), click on the scholarship tab and take the following steps:
  3. Indicate that you want to apply for the Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund Scholarship.
  4. Upload a letter of motivation for the Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund Scholarship that meets all the following criteria:
  5. It clearly states your student number (from uSis) and that the letter concerns your motivation for the Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund Scholarship.
  6. It describes your financial situation and why you are unable to follow the programme without a scholarship.
  7. It states your reasons for wishing to follow the study programme.
  8. Click on 'submit.'
