The University of London is proud to launch the McIntosh Scholarships, a new global initiative made possible thanks to a generous donation from alumnus Dr Robert McIntosh. New for the 2025-26 academic year, this scholarship is designed to empower women across Africa to earn a world-class University of London degree online and build a future in the world’s most in-demand industries.

Eligibility Criteria for McIntosh Scholarship for African Women in STEM at University of London 2025-2026

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  1. Hold an offer of a place on the BSc Computer Science, MSc Computer Science or MSc Cyber Security via the online/independent study route only. (Students studying the programme at a recognized teaching center are not eligible to apply for the scholarship).
  2. Be a new student commencing the programme in the October 2025 intake
  3. Be female and a resident in an African country
  4. Explain the impact that the scholarship will have on your ability to successfully complete the degree
  5. Can confirm that the cost of the fees that are not covered by the scholarship can be covered


Benefits of McIntosh Scholarship for African Women in STEM at University of London 2025-2026

  1. BSc Computer Science – £7,000
  2. MSc Computer Science – up to £5,500
  3. MSc Cyber Security – up to £5,000

How to Apply

  1. Submit a programme application form online. Programme application forms are located on each programme webpage and can be found using the Course finder.
  2. Please note: A non-refundable programme application fee is required for these programmes and will not be waived as part of the scholarship.
  3. When you have received an offer letter complete the online scholarship application form
  4. Applicants must complete all sections of the application form –
  5. Confirm that you hold an offer of a place
  6. Explain the impact that the scholarship will have on your ability to successfully complete the degree
  7. Complete a supporting statement that answers the following three questions.
  8. Why have you chosen to study this programme?
  9. Tell us how the award of the scholarship will result in positive benefit to your community, profession or society in the future.
  10. Tell us how the financial support this award provides will help you to study this programme.
  11. Each answer must be no more than 200 words. Applications that exceed the word count will be automatically rejected.
