The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and ECU PhD Scholarship is a joint funding program that provides outstanding Chinese students the opportunity to undertake a fully funded PhD at Edith Cowan University (Australia). The scholarship offers a tuition fee offset, a generous living stipend, and full support from both CSC and ECU.

Eligibility Criteria for China Scholarship Council (CSC) – Edith Cowan University PhD Scholarship 2026/2027

Candidates receiving a CSC-ECU Scholarship must:

  1. meet CSC selection criteria and be successful in receiving CSC scholarship funding;
  2. meet all University admission and English proficiency requirements;
  3. not be living or working outside the People’s Republic of China at the time of application; and
  4. not hold a research doctorate degree or equivalent.

Benefits of China Scholarship Council (CSC) – Edith Cowan University PhD Scholarship 2026/2027

CSC will offer a scholarship package that includes a living allowance (AUD $22,800 per year), return airfare, single overseas student health insurance and reimbursement of the initial visa application fee.

How to Apply

Application Process:

Step 1: Identify a Research Supervisor or Project

  1. Explore research projects that match your interests by visiting Postgraduate Research Project Opportunities.
  2. Or contact a nominated supervisor to discuss potential supervision and your research proposal.

Step 2: Obtain Support from School/Supervisor

  1. Secure support from the relevant School or supervisor via email.
  2. Forward this support email to Graduate Research Services (GRS). GRS will then issue an invitation letter on behalf of the ECU Dean of Graduate Research.

Note: You do not need to apply for admission at this stage. If you do, attach the invitation letter and state you are applying for a CSC scholarship.

Step 3: Apply for the CSC Scholarship

  1. Submit your CSC scholarship application (usually in March). More details at CSC website
  2. If successful, apply for admission to ECU, including your CSC support letter and invitation letter.

Please note: CSC scholarship approval does not guarantee admission, which is competitive and depends on supervision availability and research alignment.
