Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) invites applications for a part-time (75%) Research/Teaching Assistant (PhD Candidate) position in Financial and Sustainability Reporting at the Faculty of Business Administration – Munich School of Management.

The role is based within the renowned TRR 266 Accounting for Transparency collaborative research center and the Sustainability Reporting Navigator (SRN) project.

The successful candidate will contribute to high-impact research on corporate transparency, sustainability reporting, empirical accounting, AI-based text analysis, and regulatory effects on firms and society.

Eligibility Criteria for LMU PhD in Financial & Sustainability Reporting 2026

  1. You have completed (or are near completion of) a Master’s degree in business administration, economics, or a related field of study – ideally specializing in accounting, finance, machine learning, and/or sustainability management.
  2. You have the skills and motivation to work in the above research fields.
  3. You have acquired empirical skills (ideally, including AI-based natural language processing approaches) as well as substantive expertise in accounting theory and practice through either specialization in Bachelor's and/or Master's programs, topical and methodological theses, or relevant internships.
  4. You have very good analytical skills and German and English language skills (both at C1-levels), and you are a reliable and helpful team player.
  5. An independent way of working and a high level of commitment are also welcome.
