About The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA)

The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) is an initiative of eight African universities, four African research institutions, and select northern partners committed to building capacity for advanced multidisciplinary research in public and population health. CARTA’s mission is to strengthen the institutional capacity of participating African universities and research centers to produce well-trained researchers and leaders who can drive solutions to the continent’s health and development challenges. Through its doctoral fellowship programs, research funding, and institutional development support, CARTA fosters an environment for high-quality research, innovation, and evidence-based policy-making in Africa.
