This PhD/MRes + PhD scholarship at Macquarie University develops next-generation non-invasive biochemical sensing platforms to detect stress biomarkers in sweat and breath. Students will explore stress biomarkers, nanomaterials, sensing architectures, and integration with hearing technologies.

Eligibility Criteria for Smart Stress Sensing PhD Scholarship 2026

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a:

1. direct-entry three-year PhD, or
2. four-year MRes + PhD program.

1. $48,000 per annum tax-exempt stipend (2026 rate)
2. $13,000 per annum project and development package

How to Apply

Submit an expression of interest (EOI) to Associate Professor Noushin Nasiri at noushin.nasiri@mq.edu.au.

The EOI is assessed by the supervisory team and shortlisted applicants are interviewed.

The supervisory team nominates a preferred applicant and informs the iPhD office. The nominated applicant will be instructed to apply.

The application is then assessed against our PhD admission criteria. We will issue a letter of offer for the program if all conditions have been satisfied.
