PhD Scholarships for Africans , 2025 - 2026

Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 SOAS University of London Hyundai Motor Group Scholarships. Hyundai Motor Group is offering five fully funded scholarships aimed at developing experts for sustainable development in Africa. This program fosters long-term collaboration and empowers African students to create meaningful change in their communities.

Scholarship recipients will engage in networking events, seminars, and academic activities supported by the Hyundai Motor Group, ensuring long-term career support beyond their studies.

The Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarships were set up in memory of Christine Bolt, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Kent, and were generously funded by her late husband, Ian Bolt. Successful applicants will be awarded up to £10,000 each (to include tuition fees) to support a sustained period of research in America for up to one year. In exceptional circumstances, the scholarship holders may be invited to re-apply for a further one year's funding.

Scholarships are aimed at students whose area of research has an American element and/or where the center of expertise or an important source of research material is located in the United States of America.
