About Makerere University
Makerere University and Mastercard Foundation Extend Partnership for Scholars Program
In collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation, Makerere University has renewed its partnership for the second phase of the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, extending through 2034. This initiative is dedicated to expanding inclusive university education and empowering 1,000 young Africans to contribute meaningfully to national and regional development.
Over the next 10 years, the program will provide fully funded scholarships at Makerere University's main campus for both undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) and graduate studies. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is committed to supporting academically talented young men and women from Sub-Saharan Africa who face financial barriers in accessing higher education, ensuring they receive the opportunity to pursue their academic and career aspirations.
