About The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI)

The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), established in 1962 and located in Uppsala, Sweden, is a center for research, knowledge, and policy dialogue on Africa. The institute works to deepen understanding of contemporary African issues and to strengthen cooperation between the Nordic countries and Africa. Through its multidisciplinary research, publications, fellowships, and policy dialogues, NAI supports evidence-based knowledge to influence both academic discussions and policymaking. The institute also provides resources for scholars, policymakers, and the general public interested in Africa’s development, politics, and society.
