St Mary's University is pleased to offer three categories of scholarships—gold, silver, and bronze—to enable athletes to successfully train, compete, and study in a performance environment. With financial support and a comprehensive support service package, including strength and conditioning and rehabilitation services, the scholarship programme can be tailored to your needs.

Eligibility Criteria for St Marys University Sports Scholarships 2025-2026

For Gold Scholarships:

1. The University are looking for student athletes who have the ability to compete at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, typically those that have already represented their country at senior international level in an appropriate sport.
2. They will also consider applications from student athletes in a non-Olympic sport, providing they compete at a comparable level and in a British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) sport.
3. As with all St Mary’s sport scholarships, meeting the above minimum criteria does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.

For Silver Scholarships:

1. St. Mary’s University are looking for student athletes who are typically competing at a minimum of the junior national/international level or equivalent who are able to demonstrate how they can significantly contribute to success for St Mary’s in BUCS competitions.
2. Please note: athletes must be committed to and eligible to represent St Mary’s in BUCS competitions and events.
3. As with all St Mary’s sport scholarships, meeting the above minimum criteria does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.

For Bronze Scholarships:

The University are looking for student athletes who:

1. are currently competing at a minimum of county or regional level and can commit to competing in BUCS competitions OR
2. are currently competing at a minimum of national or junior national level in a non-BUCS or non-Olympic sport OR
3. do not meet the above but can evidence that they can significantly contribute to the student sport programme.

As with all St Mary’s sport scholarships, meeting the above minimum criteria does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.

Selection Process

The timeline for scholarship applications is outlined as

1. Deadline - 25th August 2025
2. Induction - 17th September

Gold scholarship

Value: up to £2,000

This scholarship package includes:

1. up to £1,000 financial support
2. free gym membership to the St Mary’s Fitness and Conditioning Suite
3. access to St. Mary's services, including
4. strength and conditioning services
5. student massage clinic
6. nutrition and psychology support from MSc students
7. performance lifestyle support services
8. Sport Scholar jumper.

Value: up to £1,500

This scholarship package includes:

1. up to £500 financial support
2. free gym membership to the St Mary’s Fitness and Conditioning Suite
3. access to St Mary's services including:
4. strength and conditioning services
5. student massage clinic
6. nutrition and psychology support from MSc students
7. performance lifestyle support services
8. Sport Scholar jumper.

Bronze scholarship

Value: up to £1,000

This scholarship package includes:

1. free gym membership to the St Mary’s Fitness and Conditioning Suite
2. access to St Mary's services, including
3. strength and conditioning services
4. student massage clinic
5. nutrition and psychology support from MSc students
6. performance lifestyle support services
7. sport Scholar jumper.
