The Ernie and Jean Crossland Environmental Scholarship 2025

Ernie Crossland dedicated his life to the issues of Lake Simcoe, its watershed and the environment. Ernie believed that while we continue to do what we can, we must also enable the youth and people of our communities with the education and tools to carry on this crucial task. In 2006 the Ernie and Jean Crossland Environmental Scholarship Fund was created to raise funds for students from the Lake Simcoe region watershed pursuing a post secondary education in Ontario studying the environment.

Eligibility Criteria for The Ernie and Jean Crossland Environmental Scholarship 2025

  1. Be a resident of a municipality and/or attend a secondary school in the Lake Simcoe watershed. (York, Durham, Simcoe, Kawartha Lakes, Barrie, Orillia)
  2. Be a Canadian Citizen or hold Landed Immigrant Status in Canada
  3. Demonstrate exemplary achievement and qualities (related to environmental activities)
  4. Have been accepted to pursue an education in an environmental field of study at a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Ontario.
  5. Multi-year scholarship awards are possible but a new application must be submitted each year
  6. Interview Dates and Process

    Deadline to submit complete application package:

    June 30, 2025

    Recipients will be notified by:

    September 5, 2025

    Deadline to Submit Proof of Registration:

    September 30, 2025

    1. Signed and dated Application Form
    2. Personal Achievement Essay (see Application Form for content details)
    3. Two (2) signed letters of recommendation (scholastic and community)
    4. Educational Transcript for most recent two years
    5. Current Resume
