Through the Scholarship partnership with University of Galway, Hygeia is committed to investing in the next generation of changemakers dedicated to research, innovation, and environmental stewardship.

The programme also gives the student the opportunity for a placement at Hygeia, applying their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, collaborating with professionals across departments, and contributing to impactful projects.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Galway - Hygeia Partnership 2026

The scholarship is aimed at incoming first-year students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds who meet the following criteria:

1. Total household income of €50,000
2. • Or deemed HEAR Eligible

Benefits of University of Galway - Hygeia Partnership 2026

The value of the scholarship will be €4,000 per student, per annum. The scholarship value will be paid towards annual tuition fees with any remaining balance paid to the scholar for living expenses.

How to Apply

1. The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 17th October 2025.
2. • All applicants will be required to supply a personal statement as part of the application process as well as the appropriate
3. •Provide supporting evidence of meeting the socio-economic threshold, with a family income of less than €50,000.
4. • Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview and reviewed by a panel. Applicants invited for interview will be required to be available in person on Wednesday, 5th November 2025.
