University of Warwick AHRC Creative Bridges Scholarship 2026

These AHRC funded PhD places provide an exciting opportunity to pursue postgraduate research in a cutting-edge field that brings together the twin challenges of Diversity and Sustainability for the UK Screen industries (broadly defined as film, television, gaming and immersive media).

Two Themed Studentships are available, and we invite proposals on one or more of the following themes:

  1. Creative Economy
  2. Screen Sector Work and Freelancers
  3. Diversity and Serving Diverse Audiences
  4. Sustainable Screen, Gaming and Immersive Production and Distribution

An additional ‘Project Studentship’, designed in collaboration with the BBC, jointly supervised but based at the University of Leeds is also available.

Two studentships are available in the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures (SCAPVC) /Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM) for 2026/27 funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to be part of the Creative Bridges Doctoral Focal

Eligibility Criteria for University of Warwick AHRC Creative Bridges Scholarship 2026

  1. Applicants are expected to apply for a place to study, within SCAPVC or CIM for the academic year 2026/7.
  2. You should hold a first-class or at least a good upper second-class UG degree (or equivalent) in an Arts and Humanities subject and either a Masters degree with distinction or merit in any subject area OR equivalent creative industries experience, ideally in the screen or digital sector in the UK or abroad.

The studentships cover fees plus a UKRI rate maintenance allowance (in 2025/26 this was £20,780) plus tailored Research Training and Support Grants.
