WIPO Academy 2025 Masters Scholarship for African Students

This Master's Degree is offered jointly with the WIPO Academy, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), and Africa University (Mutare, Zimbabwe), with financial assistance from the Government of Japan.

All courses incorporate the theoretical and doctrinal foundations of the legal regime as well as the practical aspects of the particular areas of law.

Eligibility Criteria for WIPO Academy 2025 Masters Scholarship for African Students

To be considered, applicants shall:

  1. Be nationals of an African country;
  2. Hold at least a Bachelor's (second lower class) from a recognized university in any discipline; and
  3. Be fluent in English.
  4. A pass in DL 101 (WIPO free course)

  2. For non-native speakers, proof of English language: TOEFL/CAE or an acceptable equivalent
  3. Transcript of University studies (Translated into English)
  4. Recent Curriculum Vitae
  5. DL101 Course Certificate

Benefits of WIPO Academy 2025 Masters Scholarship for African Students

A number of WIPO scholarships are available. Scholarships cover:

  1. Return ticket
  2. Registration and tuition fees
  3. Full board and lodging
  4. Medical insurance

Visa costs, if any, are at the expense of participants.

Successful applicants for WIPO scholarships are notified by the WIPO Academy. Thereafter they will be provided with relevant information, including travel arrangements.

How to Apply

Applications on the Africa University website will open in November 2024.

Applications are made online at both websites of Africa University and the WIPO Academy.

Dates

  1. May to July 2025: compulsory distance learning phase through the WIPO Academy e-Learning Center (lms.wipo.int), with final exam;
  2. August to December 2025: residential phase in Mutare, Zimbabwe, including a two-week practical training at ARIPO Headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe; and
  3. December 2025 to April 2026: finalization and submission of a dissertation.
