AfDB–Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) Scholarship 2026

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) invite interested and qualified African nationals to apply for the 2026 SHOU Scholarship Programmes.

Driven by its Ten-Year Strategy (2024–2033), the Bank Group is financing these scholarship programs to build a new generation of African expertise, fortifying the continent's institutional and technical foundation for sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and marine resource management.

Summary

2. Value: Full tuition, accommodation, meals, monthly stipend (flights & visa not included)
3. Study Level: Summer School, Masters, PhD

Eligibility Criteria for AfDB–Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) Scholarship 2026

Masters Program

1. Must be a national of an AfDB Regional Member Country (RMC) with experience in the fisheries or blue economy sector
2. Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field (or any field with demonstrated interest in fisheries or blue economy)
3. English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 minimum
4. Be under 35 years old at the time of application
5. Demonstrated outstanding academic performance (e.g., GPA ≥ 3.0)

Ph.D. Program

1. Must be a national of an AfDB Regional Member Country (RMC) with experience in the fisheries or blue economy sector
2. Hold a Master’s degree in Marine Science, Aquaculture, Economics, Environmental Policy, Development Studies, or any related field
3. English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 minimum
4. Must have research experience and at least 1 published paper
5. Strong analytical, research, and policy development skills
6. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with experience in multicultural environments
