Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) Scholarship 2026

The Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) offers fully funded scholarships for students from developing countries to pursue the Diploma Course at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH) in Salzburg, Austria. The course includes a General Module, a Professional Module in Hospitality or Tourism Management, and an Elective in Entrepreneurship or Teacher Training. The scholarship covers tuition, course materials, health insurance, food on school days, excursions, social events, and monthly pocket money. Accommodation is partially covered, and students must cover flight and visa costs. Applicants must be under 35 years old.

Eligibility Criteria for Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) Scholarship 2026

ADC priority countries: limited places are reserved for applicants from the following countries:

  1. Ethiopia
  2. Uganda
  3. Burkina Faso
  4. Mozambique
  5. Palestinian Territories
  6. Georgia
  7. Armenia
  8. Moldova

Further scholarships are available for all developing countries listed on the OECD DAC List.

Please note that there is an age limit of 35 years for eligibility.

Benefits of Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) Scholarship 2026

  7. Partial costs of accommodation
  8. Not included in the scholarship:

    1. Accommodation: Accommodation costs have to be covered partially by students who are awarded this scholarship.
    2. The total fee (deposit and accommodation fee of € 1.500 in total) has to be remitted in advance before the admission letter can be issued.
    3. Flight ticket: Students have to cover their own travel expenses from their countries to Salzburg and back.
    4. Visa fee: The visa fee has to be paid by the applicants. The fee for the 8-month residence permit is €160.
    5. The fees for the entry visa (Visa D) are different; please contact your embassy for detailed information.

    Please note that there is an age limit of 35 years for eligibility.


How to Apply

Limited number of scholarships are offered every year by the Austrian Development Cooperation. Please be aware that being offered a scholarship is not automatic and very competitive.

Procedure:

  1. Get information about ITH on the website or from an Austrian consulate or embassy
  2. Collect all relevant documents and submit your application via the web application form at www.ith-salzburg.at (available from September 2025 to January 6, 2026).
  3. You will receive a confirmation by email that your application has been received and processed.
  4. You will be informed about the result of your application in April 2026 at the latest. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a letter of acceptance.

Tips for a successful scholarship application:

  1. Fill out the online application form properly.
  2. Make sure you supply all the required information and attach all the required documents.
  3. Send translated English or German documents if required.
  4. Check your email regularly and include a working e-mail address and phone number
  5. Apply on time. Applications after 6th January 2026 will not be processed.
  6. Provide all admission requirements (read the ITH application information and visa process carefully).
  7. Clarify any doubts with the ITH office and Austrian embassy/consulate
  8. In your motivation letter and video, make clear why you are interested in the program and why you should receive a scholarship
  9. Only complete and appropriate applications will be considered.

Important Dates:

  1. Deadline for the submission of the application form: January 6, 2026
  2. Beginning of Courses: September 7, 2026
  3. Visa Application: You can start with the Visa application process right after receiving the letter of acceptance in April 2026 at the latest.
  4. Planned duration of the Diploma Course: September 7, 2026 – May 30, 2027
