Montana State University Scholarship in USA 2025 | Fully Funded

The Department of Ecology, Montana State University, is seeking one Master’s student to work in collaboration with Montana State University, the Smithsonian Institution National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, and Fort Belknap Fish and Wildlife Department on a research project.

The research project of the Montana State University Masters Scholarship is based on investigating the genetics and movement ecology of swift foxes located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in northern Montana.

This Montana State University Scholarship aims to assess genetic diversity, gene flow, kinship, dispersal, and home ranges of a newly established population of swift foxes reintroduced to the study site following translocation efforts during 2020-2023.

Eligibility Criteria for Montana State University Scholarship in USA 2025 | Fully Funded

1. B.S. in wildlife science, ecology, zoology, or a closely related field
2. Average GPA of 3.0 in biology courses; 3.0 average in courses taken during the junior and senior years; and 2.5 average in chemistry, physics and mathematics courses
3. A strong work ethic, drive, and motivation to succeed
4. Aptitude for modelling and quantitative ecology/evolutionary biology
5. Aptitude or interest in scientific programming and bioinformatics
6. Part-time degrees
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
8. Experience in field-based wildlife research, preferably in remote grassland ecosystems.
9. Experience in basic laboratory techniques.
10. Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a research team.
