An MS Graduate Research Assistantship is available starting Spring 2026 in the Department of Crop, Soil & Environmental Sciences at Auburn University. The project focuses on wetland hydrology and biogeochemistry with an emphasis on innovative detection of hydric soils using Indicators of Reduction in Soils (IRIS) technology. Research contributes to wetland conservation and restoration under the USDA-NRCS Wetland Reserve Easement (WRE) program.

Eligibility Criteria for MS Assistantship in Wetland Hydrology & Biogeochemistry 2026

Minimum:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field
  2. Strong writing and communication skills
  3. Proficiency in Python or R
  4. Valid driver’s license (US)

Preferred:

  1. Knowledge of wetland soils, biogeochemistry, and hydrology
  2. Experience with machine learning, GIS, image processing, or soil morphology
  3. Statistical analysis (e.g., time series)
  4. Hydrological modeling skills (Hydrus)
